Family History, Everyone can do it!

This past week or so I've been taking time on www.familysearch.org to look at my family tree and see what is all on there.  It has been fascinating to follow a family line back generation after generation.  seeing names in the 1500's or even 1100's  is amazing!  But seeing names in like the 1700's is almost frustrating cause you want to know who they are related to.  You start feeling a connection to these family members that you are learning about.  Granted I am still very very new at this and right now I'm just enjoying looking at people already found and entered in, but it makes me want to try and find someone else to add to the long lines of names.  So I wanted to put on my blog today how to start doing your own family history!  You don't need to be a member of the LDS church to start, but you will need a username and password which can be created for everyone on lds.org.  So I will do my best to give you a step by step process on setting up an account so you can do your own Family History!

  1. Get on to lds.org
  2. Click on the sign in/tools drop down menu on the upper right hand corner.
  3. Click Sign In
  4. Now If you already have an lds.org account sing in with you information, if you need one click register for an account down below.
  5. Then from there you can either register as a member or as a Friend and follow the instructions given in the set up process.

Once you have that account you can sign into www.familysearch.org and begin doing your own Family History!  I highly reccomend giving it a try!  If you have any questions on doing your family history contact me and I will see if I can help you and if not, I will get you in contact with a family history worker in your area to help you out!  Go ahead and give it a try it really is fun and any one can do it!
